The weekly ritual is one of the most important take-aways I’ve learned from years of striving for healthier living. It is often one of the biggest factors in whether I (or my clients) succeed in the upcoming week when it comes to making healthy choices consistently.
This is what my weekly version looks like, as I try my best to “walk the talk” as a health coach.
Each weekend, I make sure to add to our grocery list a special section for healthy snacks. Paying special attention to this “food group” ensures that our fridge at the gym (where we spend most of our days) is filled with:
- veggies
- fruit
- mixed nuts + seeds
- yogurt or cheese
- hard boiled eggs
- whole grain crackers
- hummus
…basically a mix of healthy(ish) options to grab that varies seasonally and works for my body and eating schedule – and my whole family.
I also have weekly routines related to:
- laundry – every Monday and Thursday – which helps me plan what clothes I will have available to me and when
- workouts vs. rest days so I don’t have to decide based on how I feel
- sleep – I try quite hard to go to bed and wake up at the same time each day, regardless of work schedule or commitments
