Skip the Juice, Eat the Fruit

With a higher concentration of sugar and the majority of fruits’ natural fiber stripped during processing, you are much better off to pick whole fruit over (even 100%) fruit juice whenever you can.

Munching on a piece of fruit introduces its natural sugar to your blood stream in a low and slow fashion that allows your body to use it for energy. The concentrated sugars in fruit juices, though, hit the blood stream more quickly and cause a spike in blood sugar. In 2013, a team of researchers actually found that while eating fruit as a part of a healthy diet decreases your risk for type 2 diabetes, drinking juice does just the opposite.

Fruit is earth’s natural sweet treat! Consuming a variety of fruits in various colors offers your body a host of vitamins and minerals, as well as fiber. Skip the juice for yourself and your family and keep a mix of fresh fruit on hand instead!
