Shores Fitness & Nutrition

Shores was founded by Joel & Laura Gibson. We love how a fit life has led us on global adventures over mountains, across rivers, and – perhaps more of a challenge – through the busy days of parenthood and business ownership. We believe that the healthy choices that lead to a better and happier life happen in the day-to-day, not just in the gym or in January. We also believe that couples and partners who pursue fitness together, as a team, are more likely to achieve great results and lifelong improved health.

Joel Gibson

Owner, Head Coach

Joel is a lifelong athlete who turned his passion for sport into a career in physical education and athletic administration following university. He found CrossFit in 2008 and knew very quickly that it was an excellent tool for positively impacting the health and wellness of both kids and adults. For the last 12 years, he has found ways to turn kids into lifelong lovers of movement and helped adults to believe that their best days aren’t behind them. Joel left full-time education in 2018 to turn his complete attention to coaching. He loves training motivated and hard-working people who are looking for a solid plan to make sure good health makes their lives more fulfilling and enriched.

Laura Gibson

Co-owner, Coach

Laura’s athletic history could not run more opposite to Joel’s. A bookworm with little coordination, she never thought that day would come when fitness was an essential component of her life, let alone something that made her feel confident, resilient, and equipped. After beginning CrossFit in 2008, though, she realized that progress was possible and, more than that, it was actually fun! For Laura, fitness isn’t just about strength and weight loss, it’s about chasing down her boys in a soccer game, keeping pace during long family hikes and bike rides, and the ability to get up and do it all again the next day.
